Like any good marketing in Indonesia, I find most products and services tend to only good in the beginning or not good at all. Smartfren Connex is no exception, the first month was fast, reliable, and smooth. Well, not so reliable but given how consumptive I’ve been using the USB modem, I can consider it reliable enough.
After the first 30 days, I don’t know if I can continue to use it. It’s painfully slow and unresponsive. Opening a single page can take several minutes. The pain doesn’t stop there. Sometimes, the page does not load at all. At that point, I have to pull the USB modem out of my MacBook Air USB port and insert it again to reconnect to the network.
Last night, I bought the Turbo Boost package number 2 which was supposed to boost the speed to up to 3.1 mb/s. Surprise! No change at all. The speed is exactly the same as before the Turbo Boost was activated.
It’s very cumbersome. I do hope Smartfren will somehow fix this issue, otherwise I will be forced to throw the Connex modem away as it no longer works as advertised or worse, useless.
Oh and, I have tried to use it on another computers, different places. No difference!
